About

I am an artist, writer, wife & mother. I lived overseas in Germany for 6 1/2 years as a missionary with my husband, Matt, & each one of our 3 children were born there (giving birth surrounded by another language was real crazy). I've survived a broken home as a child and a debilitating illness that went undiagnosed from 2007-2013 (almost 7 years). I then had the unbelievable experience of being miraculously healed (completely restored!) from said illness. I learned to speak German, while battling the illness and in time for our 3rd baby's arrival (Thank you, Jesus!) and have been navigating life back in the states for the past 4 years. Matt & I are covenant partners with The Gathering Network Church in Kansas City and we're part of our church's missional plan to reach the city where we are and then gather every other Sunday to celebrate what God is doing. I'm passionate about Jesus and discipleship and I'm willing to share what He's doing/has done in my life. I'm on my own journey of healing and growth, discovering more and more how to bare both my brokenness & God-given identity.  Lastly, my given goofy nickname in our little family is "Wiggity-Wack." All 5 of us got one and that's mine, so... there you go.

Blog: truth and perspective on the journey

This blog is a work in progress, just like my life and faith. I became fascinated by "amphorae" about a year ago and their amazing metaphor for the human experience. I can relate to an imperfect vessel on a journey, containing something both mysterious & precious. I've seen God do insane things in my life. I've experienced His love in powerful ways every time a wave almost took me under. These writings are the invisible, made visible, and my effort to share what He has done and what He is teaching me (however terrifying that seems!), because our pain is never meaningless with God. He has turned the stones of my story into bread, as only He can do, and it's my priviledge to share it with you. (Just click on the Blog tab at the top of this page to start reading.)

Video teaching

This is a 30 minute video teaching from a conference I recently spoke at, at the aptly named, Journey Church in St. Louis, MO. The theme of the teaching is our Identity and Brokenness and the fact that God sees and loves and uses both! I teach from the life of Peter in the Bible, since he got to walk with Jesus, (literally!), through the moment of joy when Jesus tells him who he truly is, as well as his moment of great failure when it seemed all hope was lost. But we find that Jesus is the ultimate Redeemer and that the unbelievable rescue He performs in Peter's life is actually for all of us.

(Also, can we just stop and appreciate the humor of whoever it was that decided THAT should be the image for my video on Youtube?!!! Hilarious.)
